Wayne Joseph Harkins

January 1, 1948 - May 26, 2022

Wayne Joseph Harkins, 74, of Peekskill NY, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2022. He was born January 1, 1948 in Peekskill to Julia and Joseph Harkins. Wayne was a gentle, soft spoken, free spirited, and fun loving guy. He retired after 30 years with the Metro-North Railroad. He dearly loved his family and numerous friends; and especially his buddies from the Rainbow Bar and Grill. He touched many lives throughout the years. He offered a wealth of facts on a wide variety of subjects, a keen student of life! He was an avid follower of New York Sports teams, attended Yankee baseball games, loved the revitalized Paramount Theater musical concerts, enjoyed golf at Myrtle Beach and the Catskill Mountains, and attended horse races at Saratoga. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Peekskill Elks Lodge #744, and Peekskill Senior Citizens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julia Harkins; and his brother Dennis Harkins. He is survived by his brother Brian Harkins (Dottie) from Midlothian, VA and sister Colleen Dew from Cold Spring, NY; and nieces Hillary Bennett, Rachel Riendeau, Emily Voelker, Julia Dew, and Jody Dew; and nephew Daniel Harkins; as well as four grand-nephews. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held for family and friends at the Rainbow Bar & Grill, 425 Central Avenue, Peekskill, NY on Friday, June 17 from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
