Frederick J. McPhee Sr.

May 6, 1954 - November 1, 2021

Frederick J. McPhee Sr. passed away on November 1, 2021, in Florida. Fred graduated from Peekskill High School, Class of 1973. He was employed from 1972-1978, as a Chef in the Dietary Department of the Hudson Valley Hospital Center (formerly Peekskill Community Hospital). Frederick was also a Direct Care Counselor and Resident Manager at the Somers House in Baldwin Place, NY and served on the Human Relations Board for the Hudson Valley DOSO from 1978 until 2001. Frederick was a member of the Board of Trustees with the Peekskill Housing Authority and a past member of the Washington Engine Company in the City of Peekskill Fire Dept. He was a member of Peekskill Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #744 where he served as an Officer and as Exalted Ruler from 2003–2004. Frederick married Joan M. Delaney on June 30, 1973 at Assumption Church, Peekskill. The marriage ended in divorce in March 2000. She survives. He is survived by his sons' Frederick McPhee Jr. & Thomas Anthony McPhee, his daughter Tammy McPhee, and granddaughters Victoria Rose McPhee, and Keisa McPhee. Fred is also survived by his brother Arthur McPhee, his two “bonus” daughters, Susan Abreu & her husband Frederick, their children Kari & Daniel, and Linda Strausbaugh & her husband Paul, their son Robert (Vanessa) & Fred’s great grandson, Theodore (Teddy). He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers Victor Bischoff, Roy E. Bischoff, Howard Bischoff, & Malcolm McPhee and two sisters Janice Miller and Betty Lou Mann. Fred spent the last nine years enjoying life in Ocala, FL with his loving wife, Charleen McPhee, who survives. While in Florida, he ministered to the sick and was a Sacristan at Queen of Peach & St. Jude’s Churches. Fred's life will be celebrated over two days in Peekskill. A memorial visitation will be on Friday, May 20 from 3 - 7 PM, at Dorsey - Carlone Funeral Home, and a memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 21 at 9:30 AM at Holy Spirit Church, Cortlandt Manor. After mass, Fred's cremains will be interred at Assumption Cemetery, after which a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Peekskill Elks Lodge.
